About TSG

Total Swine Genetics is Ontario's leading swine artificial insemination boar stud. TSG’s strength lies in high quality genetics suppliers; economies of scale (capacity for over 500 boars in two facilities), state of the art biosecurity, climate controlled barns and staff who are experienced, knowledgeable and service minded.

Both of our boar facilities are fully heated and air conditioned. Keeping boars at a comfortable temperature year round assists in semen production and quality. In winter, our system exhausts moisture outside the barns. Humidity is the carrier for manure gases in the barn, lower humidity means better air quality and better animal health. All Boars are replaced on a regular schedule, ensuring that the latest in genetic quality is always available in the stud.

TSG offers both terminal and maternal genetics to commercial producers in Ontario. Our own drivers deliver same day direct to customer's farms three times per week to most of Ontario. Afternoon delivery allows semen to reach its’ optimum potency.

History

TSG began in 1995 as a division of Shade Oak Swine as a means to process and deliver the Shade Oak Duroc terminal genetic line. Alliance Genetics became an early partner to provide maternal lines through TSG. The stud began with only 30 boars and now has space for over 500 in two facilities.

2009 was a defining year for TSG. With the sale of the Shade Oak Duroc line to Hypor International, TSG was incorporated as an independent boar stud. New genetic suppliers have joined TSG, allowing the stud to broaden its product offering.

Also new in 2009 is a state of the art climate control and air filtration system. This system is considered the gold standard in disease prevention and is expected to keep our boars in optimum comfort and health. With the addition of this system, TSG re-aligned production and delivery schedules to accommodate same-day PRRS testing. Our facility upgrades, health monitoring, and delivery schedule together build a biosecurity protocol that delivers peace of mind to our customers, every time.
